Excellent dim sum! Sun Kong is definitely my go-to for dim sum when I don't feel like going to Boston. I used to go to Lowell when the craving hit but Sun Kong in Malden is definitely worth the extra drive because it's more delicious and reasonably priced. Sun Kong has some of the best chicken feet I've ever eaten! There's soooo much flavor and I love that there is a hint of spiciness to it. Their har gow (steamed shrimp dumplings) I'm not too crazy about - they look really pretty but I just don't like the vegetables in my har gow. Everything was pretty solid here. I was just a little disappointed they ran out of the fried taro puffs and turnip cake so I wasn't able to try them out.
4 stars for convenience, 3 stars for food overall. I enjoyed my dim sum visit but most of the many items I had were just okay- lotus sticky rice not very flavorful, tough meat; several different dumpling varieties overcooked so the wrappers tore badly/were too sticky; that sort of thing. A couple very yummy items (shrimp dumplings especially, and red bean buns). It was a nice enough experience but I would make the effort to go in to Boston for a more comprehensively delicious dim sum.
Great service but it does help to frequent the establishment. We are always happy to visit. The interior does need an update on the carpet and walls. That is the main reason I don't give it a 5 star rating.
The dim sum is great. The dinner is a little lacking. But the customer service is great. I come here a lot and their boss doesn’t charge me a cent for the drinks
Best place for dim sum. Usually a very long line forms during weekend, but still worth a wait! Overall quality of food and service is way better than any restaurant from China town. I wish they sell pastries all day! Never miss a custard bun or a salted egg yolk bun!
The dim sum here tastes freshly made and they don't skimp on the fillings when you get the pork buns. Service is great, you don't always see the same carts going through. If you don't feel like eating dim sum, they also have a kitchen menu.
We went to the bar side for drinks and food but they wouldn't let us sit at a table on the bar side. We ordered drinks and wanted to order food. The bartender took orders from people that came in after us. We drank our drinks then left because he still didn't let us order. We figured there seen other places that treat you nicer 😁
The food was amazing once we sat down with my friends, but the waiting was about 20 minutes and the waiting room is awkward and they need to improve it. The food was amazing and it wasn't that expensive. I would suggest going here if you have enough patience to wait and can stay in a cramped place. I don't know about the weekdays since I only went on the weekend.
Very awkward waiting area, always super cramped which is one thing. But another thing when the host forcibly pushes elders around in order to get through. They also serve with dirty spoons and bowls that are crusted with old food.
Very authentic Cantonese restaurant. Legit local dining option, way better than a lot of restaurants in Chinatown. I came here every week and never disappointed.
I waited for 10 minutes at 10pm and then was told me there was no table for 1 person. Not a busy time. There were two large table vacant. I used to came here several times per month and would never come back again.
The food was all pretty good. Bathrooms were pretty nasty (sticky floors). I don't really like the format of dim sum too much; the carts that you want appear infrequently or after you've stuffed your face with stuff that you don't actually want. It's also difficult communicating with the staff, because they typically don't speak English very well (if at all).
If you want authentic Chinese food in Malden, this is the place. We went today for their dimsum and everything is on point. go there early because the line is out the door. We also had been here for dinner before and all the food are delicious. Definitely recommend this to anyone.
Dim sum here feels more authentic than the other dim sum places I've been able to try. Definitely helps to have someone in the party who can speak Mandarin to make ordering smoother, and also to unlock some menu items that are hard to ask for in English. Also, durian sweet cakes are awesome.
Excellent food and alot of it also. Two weeks ago we ate at the restaurant and tonight we did take out. What an incredible experience. Prices are excellent. Nicest customer service of anywhere I've been in the Everett/Malden area. Giving this place 5 stars.
Never had this situation, waiting for 45 minutes and still nothing on table, ask the waiters, they told us their chef is still eating and haven't even start cooking yet. 'Nice' First time, and definitely won't come back any more!!!
Horrible food (almost as though it had been sitting out for some time), and let me not begin to discuss my waiter- we were not able to understand each other as he barely spoke any English and on top of that, he did not come by to refill our waters but yet stared at us the whole time while we attempted to eat - NOT COMING HERE EVER AGAIN.
Dim sum here is better than anything I've had in Boston's Chinatown. It does get really busy at lunch on weekends but the line moves fast. There's a good amount of parking on site but they just get so busy and it fills up pretty quick. To get a table, find the lady with the list and she'll give you a number.Food was on point. Everything was fresh. One of my favorite dishes was the fried calamari. Service is really good too.
This place doesn’t deserve my money. I was there early, waiting to meet up with friends for dim sum - in the parking lot at 8:00 this morning, having dropped a friend off at Logan for an 8am flight. The guy opening the place up banged on my window and nastily asked me what I was doing there. I explained, and he just stared at me, shook his head and walked away. I’m at Brothers Kouzina on Rt 1 now, where the staff are always friendly and nice. Sun Kong is on my “NEVER” list!
Wonderful dishes. If you ever want to try authentic Chinese food go to this place, but you may need to bring some one who can read Chinese in order to get authentic food, if you cant they do have two menus. A full American menu that you can order from. A great tip my friend have given me was go to a restaurant were the natives eat and yes predominately theirs nothing but Chinese people here. The prices are inexpensive as well, and the staff are most helpful and polite.
This is one of the good Chinese restaurants in Malden. Plenty of seats and I never have to wait for seats, at least not during the dim sum hour. I like their sweet and sour chicken, stir-fried string beans or water spinach, braised eggplant, braised pork with preserved vegetables, and crispy roasted chicken.
Great place for Dim-sum. Food is good. Wait time can sometimes be longer than you expect since its very busy. I highly recommend to go to this place in group rather than going in a pair or single. This will allow you to taste more variety of food they have to offer.
